Description: | This is an introductory course in government and politics of Hong Kong. It examines the following major issues: political institutions and processes; the various theoretical approaches to understand Hong Kong politics; the Basic Law and the principle of “one country, two systems”; the performance of the SAR Government since the return of sovereignty ; political culture; political parties and elections; and public administration and public policy. Emphasis is placed on recent changes and development, and the prospects for democratization. |
